Unleashed Souls - June 25, 2016

After spending the day in SoHo, I did went out of my comfort zone a bit, went to a friend's gig at Thomas Joseph's Sports Bar on Union Turnpike (it's still technically Queens, but just barely).

There was great food and service from the bar and a great vibe from the band. I took my new Canon 6D and a couple of prime lenses (35mm & 50mm) to capture the action. Enjoy my attempt at doing something a bit out of the ordinary (for me!).

Canon 6D

I had been seriously considering purchasing a Full Frame camera because I wanted better performance when shooting during dawn and dusk in Manhattan - especially when shadows and bright sunlight criss-crossed the image. So I took the plunge and purchased a Canon 6D and paired it with my 24-105mm f/4L lens. I won't bore anyone with the sordid details of the issues with B&H's price matching department, or with Canon's Quality Control in selling two cameras with significant sensor spot issues. What's important are the images. And they speak for themselves:

Photo Shoot: May 15, 2016 - Manhattan

It was a chilly, raw, Sunday morning. The temperature was in the low 50s and the wind was brisk and cutting as I decided to walk up 7th Avenue from its beginnings as West Broadway, just north of the World Trade Center. The day started with brilliant sunshine before quickly clouding over and turning grey before I even reached Hudson Square. The day ended with a quick excursion into the newly opened 34th Street station on the 7-Line.
